It's a cold (43 degrees) and rainy day in Utah today. Layla bug put on her warm hat from Aunt Bethany and is all smiles while staying cozy and warm inside.

Weekend at the cabin
We took a little family retreat this weekend to a cabin in the mountains. We didn't have any sort of media source so we couldn't celebrate for the Longhorns until today when we got home, but we were able to see some antlers.
Layla had her first moose sighting (at a safe distance of course).
I couldn't have been happier!
She also received a gift from the race promoter who runs the mountain bike race series that I compete in each summer. Many of the top athletes get their own number plate to use throughout the season and now Layla also has one. Just another sign of the love that this beautiful girl receives each and every day from people around the world.
And of course, she was very excited!

VIDEO
We don't want to upset anyone. So we will have decided it would be better to not post video of Layla showing of her darling little "snort" cry.
Layla is doing well, very happy, healthy and busy enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend.
Family photo in our Long Horns attire.... coming soon!

TOOTSIE ROLL

SAD BUT SOOOOOOOO CUTE!
Layla doesn't screech, cry loudly (most of the time), or scream. Her little cry is more of a wheezing (wa-inhale-wa-inhale... etc.) and every once and a while when she gets in just the right (wrong) mood... her cry includes a SNORT! It makes us laugh every time. It's so sad to see her cry but it's so unexpected out of the little bugglet. Even though she's crying, she's the cutest thing ever created! We love to love the little things that make Layla--- Layla. :)

WEEK 10
Layla has the most beautiful big smile, but she doesn't hand it out for free. She likes to make you work for it.... and it's always worth the wait. We keep trying to catch her tiny giggle that she gives us when we're really lucky. She's a little camera shy though.
Layla loves being a part of all the action and instead of sitting her her bouncer and watching me do laundry.... she'd rather lay in the warm batch right from the dryer and watch me fold and stack that mountains of baby laundry.
She loves story time. Grandma Cindy started her off on the right foot with a few books and we've quickly added to the collection. Due to Layla's wiggly little body that never stops, she'd rather not sit on my lap for a story, but would rather lay in her crib while I read to her and show her pictures as she kicks like crazy! Here are a few of her favorite books.
Here's a little video of Layla sitting up like big girl and we're trying so hard to get her to smile and laugh. Our favorite part is at the 1:31 mark, her little facial expressions are so cute!

2 MONTH CHECK UP
Last week Layla went to the pediatrician for her "well baby" 2 month check up and vaccinations. She did so great, she was happy for the doctor and really brave for her shots.
Her 2 month statistics:
Height: 23" (75%)
Weight: 10 lb. 12 oz. (45%)
Head Circumference: 38.7 cm. (45%)
Essentially, she is tall and skinny with a perfect little head! She was so good during her vaccinations. We had a full bottle and loving arms waiting for her as soon as they were done and she calmed down and actually fell asleep about 3 minutes after finishing her bottle and only cried for about 30 seconds. We gave her a little Tylenol to prevent a fever and pain and she slept well that night. She awoke with a little whimpering and sore legs in the morning, but a warm bath and lots, lots, and lots of love did the trick. She was her happy self in no time. She is growing perfectly and the doctor said she's absolutely perfect and beautiful. We couldn't agree more.
She's eating about 4.5 oz ever 3-4 hours now and seems to be feeling better... most of the time :) Layla has a hard time slowing down at the end of the day and finds herself in a hard fuss for a few hours of the evening. But she's consistently sleeping through the night from about 10pm to 7am which makes for a happy baby!
TOMORROW: watch for a post about Layla's little personality and seriously wiggly body:)

GO Longhorns!
Kev and Layla just wanted to give a shout out to the Longhorns for their blowout win over Wyoming. I'm sure it was because we were cheering for them all day.
