Mover and a Shaker

Layla has some new favorites as she rounds the corner to turning 1 next week. Here's a little about her recent likes/dislikes:

She loves books. They are the first thing she crawls to in her room. Baby Animals is her fav.

She dances. We didn't eve have to teach her. One day when some music was playing she just started bouncing and waving her arms.... so cute. Now whenever she hears music, even on a commercial - she dances.

She bounces. Sitting, standing - anywhere she can bounce she does it. Sometimes she bounces across the room and then tips herself over on her bum.

She loves the "Lazy River" at the local water park. She lounges in her floaty and just watches the trees pass over her and cries when we have to get out. She almost falls asleep in it.

I think the ocean is something she carried with her from California to Utah. In her eyes. The only way I can describe them is the color of the ocean. A deep blue that sometimes lightens with the reflection of the sky. Absolutely breathtaking.

She loves to crawl after the cat.

She "fake" laughs when she hears adults laughing

She hates to touch anything sticky, rough, slimy, or squishy. She won't pick up any fruit to feed herself--- too slimy. She hates to crawl on the grass and would rather just sit and shuffle her feet. And if anything gets stuck to her hands she waves them around like crazy to try to get it off.

She doesn't like to lay down in the tub anymore. She wants to sit up and play with the drain.

She doesn't like bows in her hair. She likes to pull them out, inspect them and then chuck it across the room.

She hates sitting still for diaper changes or to get dressed. She's a mover and a shaker.

And she is an outdoorsman at heart. She LOVES to be outside for walks, the water park, swinging in the hammock or anything else.

She knows how to say "all done" and "please" in sign language
She claps her hands, and sticks out her tongue when we say "turtle tongue" and she likes to grab her tongue to make sure it's sticking out. She's also loves to chatter to herself when falling asleep in her crib.

Her personality is really coming out and she is so sweet. She loves to laugh and make us laugh. She's quite the ham and likes to put on a little show for everyone and eats it right up when people give her attention. Everyone is always saying this about her, "What a happy baby, is she always this smiley?" And yes, she is always this smiley.

Waiting for another cute video to upload.... more soon.
